Professor Paul J. Kellogg, Keith Goetz, Steve Monson, Robert Howard and Larry Weisensel were part of the Ulysses Unified Radio and Plasma Wave Experiment (URAP) team at Minnesota. Ulysses was a joint endeavor of NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA). It was the first spacecraft to explore the heliosphere out of the plane of the ecliptic and over the solar poles. Electrical pre-amplfiers, a Plasma Frequency Receivers (PFR) and the Fast Envelope Sampler (FES) were built at the University of Minnesota.
